The "Royal" prefix is granted, with the RPSV being the first to acquire this privilege in Australia.

RPSV's book published the "Port Philip District Postal History", the first of 30 books produced by the Society.

Avoca Street, South Yarra is acquired as the permanent home of the RPSV, the first of its kind in Australia.
