The benefits of being a member
The Royal Philatelic Society of Victoria was founded in 1892. The Society emphasises both the collecting and educational aspects of all branches of philately: stamps, postal stationery and postal history. We own our own building,
“Purves House”, at 303 High Street Road, Ashburton, enabling us to provide a wide range of facilities for members in modern, comfortable conditions.
- Four issues of our magazine, “Philately from Australia”, each year
- Access to the largest philatelic library in the southern hemisphere
- View outstanding displays at philatelic meetings
- Access to the Expert Committee for certificates of opinion
- Participation in the Society’s Annual Competition
- Purchase philatelic materials and books at the annual Bourse
- Increase your philatelic knowledge, by meeting experts in a wide range of topics

Contact Us
Please do not contact us if you want valuations or assistance in selling collections. We regret being unable to help but our experience is that these inquiries need to be dealt with carefully and take up a considerable amount of time. We are all volunteers and cannot take on the additional workload. We suggest a search for stamp dealers and stamp auction houses in your area.
For donations of philatelic material we suggest you contact the Brighton Philatelic Society https://brightonps.org.au/
